Pre-Season Underway...

With the season set to commence in under a week, preparations couldnt start soon enough. The Tigers began their pre-season campaign at the Gammliavallen stadium against Umea United. The game started with some smooth passing of the ball by Castleford, creating chances and openings in the process. Castleford Town dominated most of the first half with the most notable chance being when Steve Lazaridis hit the crossbar following a powerful strike from the edge of the area but despite the Tigers domination the first half ended 0-0.
The second half was soon underway this time Umea dominating and Peinado scoring for them after just 3 minutes of play. Umea United's high volume of possesion continued and was rewarded with yet another goal, this time coming from Wellington in the 57th minute after he headed home Umea's second. Castleford began to regain control of the match but still couldnt seem to find the net. Manager Mathew Hagar then made a tactical substitution bringing off striker Henry Vasquez and replacing him with Pavol Straka. The Tiger's control of the game continued and was finally capped off with a goal in th 90th minute from substitute Pavol Straka who then went on 3 minutes into added time to get a second, levelling the game at 2-2.

The Jungle, Our Current Home

The New Stadium, Glasshoughton

We have received news that we will be moving to our new stadium as early as 2010. The project is expected to take about 2 years, 3 years at the latest and work started last december so we are looking at a mid 2010 move, just in time for the 09/10 season, this is something we are extremely looking forward to even though it will be sad to leave The Jungle which has been our home for many years, the only stadium ever to see us in the top flight.

This is a very exciting time for Castleford Town FC and everyone involved with the club and the website is just one sign of the club moving onwards and upwards. In a recent press conference chairman David Dein stated " Myself and everyone else at the club are optimistic about what we can achieve in the coming months, the season will be underway and with the squad of players we have and the manager and coaching staff who are behind these players we can do great things this season, honestly, the sky is our limit. Castleford already has a rugby league team that are currently playing in the top tier of english rugby league so it is important that we have a football team that can do the same, and that is something i am very confident of. We have also recently announced new plans for a 20,000 all seater stadium to be built around the glasshoughton area of the town and work is already underway."

The Chairman has great plans for this club and its fans and details of the new stadium will be posted in the coming days and also a new youtube channel will be launched. This seasons new puma kits will also be posted soon.
